Abyssinian

History: The abyssinian cat is a popular breed of domisticated, shorthair cat that is believed to be a direct descendant of Zulu. Zula was a female Egyptian kitten that was taken from Alexandria, Egypt by a British soldier who took her to England. She is the first cat to be listed as Abyssinian, many sources believe that all Abyssinian cats can be linked to her.

Temperament: Abyssinian cats are very active, extroverted, playful, and extremely intelligent. They are too active to be considered lap cats, most of their time is spent playing and exploring. Breeders often use them as show cats.

Physical Characteristics: A smooth, medium length cat with strong, well developed leg muscles. Featuring slim legs and streamlined bone structure, these lithe cats have small oval shaped paws and long broad tails. The color of their almond shaped eyes may be green, copper, gold, or hazel. They have dense medium length coats that feel like silk.
